Service Overview

Find the root cause. Restore the system with confidence.

An unexplained trip, a relay misoperation, or a breaker that will not close stops production and raises risk. NewEra Testing dispatches field technicians to isolate the cause methodically. We retrieve relay event records and oscillography, test suspect equipment, and trace control wiring and communication paths. Every finding is documented with recommended corrective actions, and the system is re-verified before it returns to service.

Equipment covered

Microprocessor and electromechanical protective relays

Low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers

Metal-clad and metal-enclosed switchgear

Power and distribution transformers

Instrument transformers (CTs and PTs)

Testing & Capabilities

Diagnostic methods we bring to the field

A structured approach that moves from event data to physical evidence. Each test narrows the cause until it is confirmed and corrected.

01

Fault Event Analysis

Retrieval and review of relay event reports, SER logs, and oscillography to reconstruct the sequence of a trip or misoperation.

02

Relay Misoperation Diagnostics

Secondary injection of the affected elements to confirm pickup, timing, and logic against the settings issued by the engineer of record.

03

CT & PT Circuit Verification

CT ratio, polarity, excitation, and burden; PT ratio and polarity; plus secondary wiring and grounding checks for open, shorted, or reversed circuits.

04

Control & Trip Circuit Tracing

Point-to-point verification of trip, close, lockout, and interlock circuits, including DC supply integrity and breaker trip coil operation.

FAQs

Answers to common questions

What information should we have ready before a technician arrives?

Relay event reports or SER logs, one-line and three-line drawings, schematics, and the issued settings files. A description of the event sequence and alarms observed also helps. If records have not been pulled, we retrieve them from the devices on site.

Can you respond to an emergency outage?

Yes. We handle routine commissioning and emergency field validation. Call +1 (321) 550-1192 or message us on WhatsApp, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, and a field service technician is dispatched upon request.

Do you change relay settings during troubleshooting?

We apply and verify settings only as issued by the engineer of record or the client. If a setting is suspected, we document the evidence and test results so the responsible party can review and issue a revision.

What do we receive at the end of the job?

A technical report covering the event reconstruction, tests performed, results, root-cause findings, and recommended corrective actions. Once corrections are made, we re-test and document the verified condition before the system returns to service.
